Why, Why the darkness of nothingness
I involve blows?
Can it all, and even my life -
Some moments of a long punishment?
I want to live, though here and there is no happiness,
And there is nothing to rejoice heart,
But all along carries some light,
And if they can shine!
Let the ghost of it, a welcome light in the distance!
Let all vain hopes!
But there, - far vain land,
Its rays are burning well!
